Horses As Teachers *
Horses are herd animals, and as such they welcome and accept others just as they are into the herd. This unconditional acceptance into the herd creates an environment of safety, peace and belonging. Horses are honest and are sentient beings ie they feel how we are on the inside and respond accordingly with acceptance and support. Their gentle presence regulates our heartrate and brings it down to a resting rate. This state helps our anxieties fall and creates an environment for all types of learning. There is a beautiful connection that happens between the horse and the human and in that union of support new and old concepts can be understood, believed and established in new ways.
Research has shown that equine assisted learning programs significantly improve communication skills, self-esteem and empathy, Results show greater tolerance for stress, and improved problem-solving skills. Clients show growth in accepting responsibility, engaging in teamwork, showing leadership skills, and growth in trust and interpersonal relationships. Horses enrich humans which imparts humans enriching humans- a win-win!
The Little Blue House Ranch and Rescue
Spirit Wind is blessed to partner with The Little Blue House Ranch and Rescue located at 15125 Moonlight Rd, Olathe, KS 66061. The Ranch is set on 20 beautiful acres on the corner of 151st street and Moonlight road. This beautiful country setting provides a peaceful atmosphere for acceptance and learning.
